The HBO Max teen drama, Euphoria has taken over everyone's TV screens, so will there be a season 3? What will the storylines be? And which cast members will be returning? Here's everything we know so far.

Euphoria season 2 took over our lives as soon as it dropped thanks to an endless amount of drama from Zendaya and her cast mates, including Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi.

And following the teen drama ending, where the finale quite literally had fans in tears, viewers are already desperate to know more about season 3 and what happens next.

Following their season 2 success, HBO were quick to confirm another series was on its way as they wrote on Instagram that there was even more drama to come for Jules, Maddy, Kat, Nate, Cassie and the gang.

They simply wrote: "#EUPHORIA has been renewed for season 3." Since then, they've confirmed Euphoria season three has been put on hold indefinitely.

Here's everything we know about Euphoria season 3 so far, including the release date, returning cast members and what happens next for the troubled teens of the show.

When will Euphoria season 3 be released?

Sadly it seems that Euphoria season 3 has been put on hold indefinitely.

Show creator Sam Levinson was supposedly still writing the scripts for the third instalment of the HBO show and until they're finished, production has been put on hold. The entire cast has reportedly been released from any obligations and will be allowed to to sign onto other jobs.

“HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” the network told Deadline. “In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”

While there was no solid production start date for Season 3 the cast had been told to pencil out dates coming up soon. In March, Sydney Sweeney told a reporter at the premiere of her self-produced film Immaculate, that “I go into Euphoria,” when asked what was next for her.

Who will be in the season three cast of Euphoria?

The show's story hinges on the troubles of main characters Rue (Zendaya), Nate (Jacob Elordi), Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), Maddy (Alexa Demie) and so many more – so expect to see these talented actors make a return to the screen for season 3.

Producers have confirmed Zendaya's return as they admitted they couldn't imagine the show without her. Sydney has spoken about returning to the fold, as she has said that viewers "will be really amazed with what season three becomes”.

Barbie Ferreira won't be returning to the TV series as Kat Hernandez as she no longer related to her character. Her exit was reportedly a mutual decision between herself and the show's creators.

What will happen in Euphoria season 3?

Season 2 ended EPICALLY to say the least so without giving away too many spoilers, season 3 is going to be jam-packed with plenty of drama AND a big change.

For those of you still watching, turn away now, as it looks like season 3 will be answering plenty of our character's questions such as, who is Nate's brother in those family portraits and will Cassie get over Lexi's play? All will be revealed very soon (we hope!).

Speaking to GQ, Sydney - who plays Cassie - revealed that there is going to be a pivotal change in the show happening in this series: "I think that’s good because seasons one and two were so different,” she said.

The difference could be relating to the series being set further in the future, this is because of the large filming gap between season one and three.

In 2023, on The Tonight Show, Jacob made a joke about when filming was beginning for the upcoming season: "I hope it's soon, or they're going to have to Benjamin Button me or something."

Jacob was 19 when he started playing Nate Jacobs, now he's 26, so he clearly feels he's outgrown the roll of a high school hottie, he went on: "I'm going to have a bad back walking down the hallway, you know?"

Teasing a suspected time jump, he said: "I'm assuming that we'll have to go forward. Otherwise, it's going to seem like a weird bit."

So, in season three we just might see the former high schoolers navigating adult life...
